When you create a Snackee account we collect your email address, display name, and username. As you use Snackee we store the content you create — snacks you add, your ratings and logs, combos, stacks, store pins, and (optionally) photos you upload. We also note when you open a store page, set a restock alert, or search for a snack we don't have yet (with your search words), so stores and our team can see what people look for. If you choose to, you can also add dietary restrictions and allergies (for example a nut or shellfish allergy, kosher or halal), nutrition goals (calorie and macro targets and a goal such as weight loss), saved stores, and the snacking goals and flavors you pick when you set up your profile. If you add what you paid when you rate a snack, that price is stored with the rating, along with the store and date. If you add a city to your profile, we store it. If you claim a store, we collect the business name, your role there, and the contact phone number or email you give us so we can verify the claim. Location is optional. If you grant location permission, we use your device location to show nearby stores and let you pin where you found snacks; store pins you share are public. If you set a restock alert while location is on, we save your device location at that moment so we only alert you about stores within the distance you chose; turning the alert off or deleting your account removes it.
Your profile (display name, username, photo, bio, pronouns and city) and your public ratings, including any price you added, combos and store pins are visible to other Snackee users. Snackee never shows other users your email address, dietary restrictions, allergies, nutrition goals, saved stores or store-claim details. The current app keeps your email, dietary restrictions, allergies, nutrition goals and saved stores in a private part of your account; older app versions save changes to them on your profile record first, and we move them to the private part within seconds, so please keep the app updated. The snacking goals you pick ("Snacking for") are part of your profile record, where older app versions use them to match you with other snackers. Our team can access your account information, including these details, when needed to run and moderate Snackee.
Your information powers the product: showing your profile and contributions to the community, recommending snacks, and finding stores near you. We do not sell your personal information.
Snackee runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage). Product data for snacks may come from Open Food Facts and other catalog sources.
Barcode lookups go to Open Food Facts and UPCitemdb, which receive the barcode number. Store search and nearby stores use OpenStreetMap services (Overpass, Nominatim and Photon), which receive your search text and the area you are searching around. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, which see the area you are viewing. Verification and password-reset emails are sent through Resend, which receives your email address, and push notifications are delivered by Firebase Cloud Messaging. These services have their own privacy policies.
If you turn on push notifications, we store a push registration token for your device (issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers the notifications), the device platform, and its timezone offset, solely to deliver the notifications you asked for and honor quiet hours. These are deleted when you turn push off, sign out on that device, or delete your account.
You can edit your profile, control location permission in your device settings, and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account — this permanently deletes your account, including your follows, combos, bookmarks and restock alerts; your snack contributions are retained anonymously as community content, and your ratings and store pins display as "Former Snacker".
